Halloween

Halloween has arrived in Europe some years ago. Many people still believe that Halloween is a purely American tradition, but the festival has its real origin of the Celts. The Celtic New Year was, in fact, on October 31. The Celtic people believed that on this day the dead and the alive people ere united on earth. They had the fear that the dead could take possession of life and ensure life after death. Therefore, people whoylived in that day, wore terrible, not to attract attention.

Later even the Romans introduced this tradition, although in a different way. In 1840 Irish immigrants brought the custom in the United States. Especially kids love Halloween, because in this particular evening they can wear mask and collect candies with the famous slogan: "trick or treat".

Halloween in Italy
Italians celebrate Halloween, like other countries in Europe. Here you can hear many voices of children who say "Trick or Treat". Halloween is celebrated in Italy especially in two cities.
In Corinaldo the whole city is decorated with Halloween decorations and at nightfall the party continues with food, drinks and music. Finally there's ghosts, witches and monsters to watch the fireworks show.
In the Tuscany region, near the town of Lucca, the village of Mozzano celebrates with a gruesome spectacle and the largest parade of Halloween.
Halloween is celebrated on October 31 worldwide.
